The BTO - Hanson Business Bird Challenge 2004

Home

For 2004 the lakes area including ARC pit, Pocket Park, Island Pit and New Workings has been entered into the BTO bird challenge. This is a bi-annual challenge, organised by the British Trust for Ornithology and sponsored by building materials group Hanson. The area is known as "Hanson Aggregates, Baston Quarry", though I refer to it as Langtoft Lakes. This is the first time this area has been represented and there is a small group of us spending much time surveying the area for birds. At the end of each quarter we report back to the BTO with our findings and numbers.

For this challenge we had to give names to new areas around the lakes, bottom of the page is a map showing the challenge area.

The final total was 122.
