Cyclo-Cross - 10 October 2004
Ted Davies, Daniel Grammatica, Elliott Stephenson & Katy Sandalls made their debut in Club colours at the weekend when they raced in Spalding CC's open cyclo-cross event held in Bourne Woods. The Under 12s event saw 21 competitors line-up for what could only be described as a difficult course. The long drag uphill at the start soon sorted out the field with many parents having to push their children …but not the Clarionettes. They soon put into play & to good effect all of the techniques such as mounting, dismounting, running & pushing they'd learnt on their Saturday morning sessions. Each lap they coped with mud galore, a large tree stump to scramble over followed by a small ditch. Ted Davies was the first Clarion rider home battling it out for 5th place but just missed out to a more experienced ride. Not far behind Elliot finished 7th, Sian Botteley 13th, Daniel Grammatica 14th & Katy Sandalls 15th.
